1. About tamilnaduportal.com

tamilnaduportal.com ("Platform", "we", "us") is an independent civic information and community engagement platform for the people of Tamil Nadu. We are not an official organ of the Tamil Nadu Government or any government body.

We operate as an intermediary under Section 2(1)(w) of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and are entitled to safe harbour protections under Section 79 provided we comply with the due diligence requirements set out in the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

2. Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years of age to register and use this Platform.
  • Minors between 13–17 may use the Platform with a parent or legal guardian's verifiable consent.
  • By creating an account you represent that you meet these requirements.

3. Nature of Content — Intermediary Status

tamilnaduportal.com is a platform for user-generated content. We do not author, verify, endorse, or take editorial responsibility for any user-submitted content (issues, news posts, festival submissions, blood requests, poll votes, or any other user-generated material).

All user-generated content represents the views of the individual submitter only.

4. Public Perception Polls — Important Disclaimer

All poll results on this platform are public perception data only — they are anonymous community opinion surveys, not independently verified facts.

  • Poll results do not constitute verified assessments of any individual or policy.
  • tamilnaduportal.com does not endorse any political position, party, or candidate.
  • Results are displayed purely as community sentiment data.
  • Coordinated or fraudulent voting is prohibited and may result in legal action.

5. User Responsibilities

You agree that you are solely responsible for all content you submit. You must not submit content that:

  • Is false, misleading, or defamatory (see IPC Section 499 and IT Act provisions).
  • Infringes any copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other intellectual property rights.
  • Promotes hatred, discrimination, or violence on the basis of religion, caste, race, gender, or ethnicity.
  • Contains personal information of third parties without their consent.
  • Impersonates any person, institution, or government body.
  • Contains malware, spam, or any technically harmful content.
  • Is politically motivated propaganda without factual basis.
  • Constitutes medical, legal, or financial advice.

6. No Medical or Legal Advice

Content on this Platform — including information about government schemes, blood donation, health contacts, and legal matters — is provided for awareness and informational purposes only. It does not constitute professional medical, legal, or financial advice. Always consult a qualified professional before acting on any information found on this Platform.

7. Content Moderation and Removal

We reserve the right to remove, hide, or restrict any content that we determine, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms or applicable law — without prior notice and without liability to you. Repeated violations will result in permanent account suspension.

Upon receiving a valid complaint through our Grievance Officer, we will acknowledge within 24 hours and resolve within 15 days, as required by IT Rules 2021.

8. Account Termination

  • We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these Terms.
  • You may request deletion of your account by emailing grievance@tamilnaduportal.com.
  • After termination, your public submissions may remain visible (e.g., civic issues you reported).

9. Intellectual Property

By submitting content, you grant tamilnaduportal.com a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, reproduce, and distribute your submission on the Platform. You retain ownership of your content.

The Platform name, logo, and design are the intellectual property of tamilnaduportal.com.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, accuracy of any data, or outcomes from using the Platform.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, tamilnaduportal.com shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform or reliance on its content.

12. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

13. Grievance Officer

In accordance with Rule 4 of the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, the following person has been designated as the Grievance Officer:

14. Changes to These Terms
